Exhibition of paintings by Vamona Navelcar at Sunaparanta
‘In dreams the work is born’ – an exhibition of paintings by Vamona Navelcar still on at Sunaparanta-Goa Centre for the Arts, Altinho Timing: 10 am to 7 pm Senior artist, Vamona Ananta Sinai Navelcar (Ganesh), is surely a state treasure of Goa, whose remarkable oeuvre spans several decades. Twice recipient of Gulbenkian fellowships (1963 and 1971), he won an international award at the International Exhibition of Art in Monte Carlo for his ink drawing, Angosh Woman. A prolific master of line, he has specialised in murals and bas-relief composed of metallic, wooden and glass structures. His works are in private collections and museums worldwide  - Margaret Mascarenhas



'Fun with Clay' with Ramdas Gadekar - Level 2 starting 11 Nov '11 at Sunaparanta
Sunaparanta – Goa Centre for the Arts presents ‘Fun with Clay’ with Ramdas Gadekar for 6-12 year olds. This course promises to be a fun learning experience and at the end of it every child will have a good introduction to terracotta and the techniques used to create various articles and other pieces of art!! We have our open pottery studio hours on all days – so those interested can always come and continue to experiment with this exciting medium!! Level 2 begins on 11th November 2011 (Fridays & Saturdays) 11th, 12th, 18th, 19th, 25th & 26th November 2011 Time: 5.00 to 6.30 pm In level 2 you will learn to create items using the Coil Technique   Limited seats so please call us on 2421311 to register. Workshop in Silk Painting with Sharmila Dalal - 5 to 9 Dec 2011
Sunaparanta presents workshop in Silk Painting with Sharmila Dalal Date: 5th to 9th December 2011 Time: Batch 1 – 11 am to 1 pm             Batch 2 – 5 pm to 7 pm Venue: Sunaparanta, Goa Centre for the Arts, Altinho, Panaji Age: 12 years and above (student discount available) Every participant will work on an A2 painting.  At the end of the course, everyone will have a finished silk painting suitable for framing. Course includes all materials i.e. silks, dyes, resists and equipments The workshop is suitable for beginners as well as those with some experience and wishing to advance their skills.  It is based on the GUTTA RESIST method of silk painting using steam fixed silk paints from France. You will learn the basic techniques of painting on silk using various methods such as salt, alcohol, resist, etc. Limited seats so call on 2421311 to register.



Line Dancing on 12th & 13th October - 6 to 7.30 pm
Line Dancing with Nandita Deosthale, Kenneth Washington and Sneha Naik Date: 12th and 13th October Time: 6 - 7:30 pm Venue: Sunaparanta - Goa Centre for the Arts Fee: Free entry. No registration. We can take upto 25 participants on a first come first serve basis. What is Line Dancing? A choreographed dance with simple sequential steps set to music, usually western country style music, for a mixed group of people. The steps are repeated in sequence as the individuals all face the same direction and perform the steps at the same time. Who can join? Open to all above 10 years! What are the benefits? While we can talk about the benefits of line dancing such as weight loss, stress management, strengthening of bones and muscles without hurting your joints, improvement of posture and balance and increase of stamina and flexibility among others. The main reason is to get together and have fun! The other advantage of line dancing is that one does not have to wait to be asked to dance if one does not have a partner. Just get up, join the group on the floor and have fun while getting in shape.

Watercolour Club with Shilpa Nasnolkar at Sunaparanta Goa Centre for the Arts. 5 Saturdays beginning 10th September 2011. Basics in Weaving by Annette Furtado
Sunaparanta presents Basics in Weaving by Annette Furtado Learn the basic 3 weaves using a cardboard frame   Total of 4 classes (Tuesdays) from 3 – 5 pm 16th, 23rd and 30th August….And on 13th September to create a product idea using the fabric created   The Basic Course is for participants to begin their journey in weaving.
