Batik and Tie Dye workshop with artist Rani Sarin - until 22nd January 2012
Sunaparanta presents workshop in Batik and Tie Dye with artist Rani Sarin   Explore the ageless art and craft of resist printing. Batik and Tie dye are both ancient methods of making patterns and marks on fabric. Batik uses wax as a resist and tying or stitching acts as a resist for Bandhini or tie dye.   This workshop will introduce you to the basic concept of the craft through working on several projects.  You can work on a T-shirt, wall hanging, scarf, pillow case or just fabric pieces.   Date: 19th to 22nd January 2012 Time: 2.30 to 5.00 pm Rs.3500/- (all inclusive) Venue: Sunaparanta, Goa Centre for the Arts   Please carry an apron along!  Also some old T-shirts, pillow case or any unstarched material that you would like to work on!   Rani’s early and formal training was in Textiles in India where she grew up. She is a printmaker, paper maker and also works with fabric.  Exploiting her expertise in batik and tie dye, she uses traditional methods in a new and contemporary way.  Rani spends her time between Boston and Goa.   Limited seats so please call on 2421311 to register!

Mango Tree art school - New term began on 16 January 2012
Sunaparanta – Goa centre for the Arts announces a New term that will begin at the Mango Tree After-School Art Programme on the 16th of January 2012. 3 batches. Timing: 5-6:30 pm Monday (Beginning 16th January 2012): for 6-11 year olds Tuesday (Beginning 17th January 2012): for 6-11 year olds Wednesday (Beginning 18th January 2012): for 11-15 year olds   Open to those who were a part of our previous terms at Mango tree as well as those who were not!

Every Wednesday evening : films hosted by Sachin Chatte (art and commercial). Film club members please note, there will be no film screenings at Sunaparanta in December 2011. We will resume movie screenings from 4th January 2012

Exhibition of paintings by Vamona Navelcar at Sunaparanta
‘In dreams the work is born’ – an exhibition of paintings by Vamona Navelcar still on at Sunaparanta-Goa Centre for the Arts, Altinho Timing: 10 am to 7 pm Senior artist, Vamona Ananta Sinai Navelcar (Ganesh), is surely a state treasure of Goa, whose remarkable oeuvre spans several decades. Twice recipient of Gulbenkian fellowships (1963 and 1971), he won an international award at the International Exhibition of Art in Monte Carlo for his ink drawing, Angosh Woman. A prolific master of line, he has specialised in murals and bas-relief composed of metallic, wooden and glass structures. His works are in private collections and museums worldwide  - Margaret Mascarenhas

'Fun with Clay' with Ramdas Gadekar - Level 2 starting 11 Nov '11 at Sunaparanta
Sunaparanta – Goa Centre for the Arts presents ‘Fun with Clay’ with Ramdas Gadekar for 6-12 year olds. This course promises to be a fun learning experience and at the end of it every child will have a good introduction to terracotta and the techniques used to create various articles and other pieces of art!! We have our open pottery studio hours on all days – so those interested can always come and continue to experiment with this exciting medium!! Level 2 begins on 11th November 2011 (Fridays & Saturdays) 11th, 12th, 18th, 19th, 25th & 26th November 2011 Time: 5.00 to 6.30 pm In level 2 you will learn to create items using the Coil Technique   Limited seats so please call us on 2421311 to register.
