Documentary film screening of William Kentridge's `Anything is Possible' on 6th November '10 at 6.30 pm
On the 6th of November (Saturday), at 6.30 pm, Sunaparanta – Goa Centre for the Arts  in association with A.R.T. (Art, Resources and Teaching Trust) and Art 21 will host a documentary screening  - William Kentridge ‘Anything is Possible’ – A new film from the producers of the PEABODY AWARD winning PBS series, ART IN THE TWENTY FIRST CENTURY.

Sunaparanta presents reading workshops for children by Jugneeta Sudan           ….learn through Power Point Presentation, Readings, Fun Activities It’s not necessary that your child should have read the book!!! You have a copy, bring it along. Session I: Black Beauty by Anna Sewell Children aged 6 to 8 years Date: Monday, 8th November 2010 from 3 to 6 pm Together we will explore the Horse Story of all times. ‘BLACK BEAUTY’…The story behind the story. We will listen to Black Beauty tell a story of love, kindness, hurt and loss. Anna Sewell’s BLACK BEAUTY is a great lesson in ANIMAL CARE!! We shall visit parts of England.  Take an imaginary trip to a veterinary hospital and learn a lot about horses.   Session II: The Twilight Series Children aged 9 to 16 years Date: Friday, 12th November 2010 from 3 to 6 pm Twilight is a series of four vampire-themed fantasy romance novels by American author Stephenie Meyer. Book release - 'The Disappearance of Irene Dos Santos' by Margaret Mascarenhas
The novel ‘The Disappearance of Irene Dos Santos’ by Margaret Mascarenhas was released by Mr. Amitav Ghosh to a select list of guests hosted by Goa Centre for the Arts Chairman, Mr Dattaraj V Salgaocar, on the 26th of September in collaboration with Literati. In ‘The Disappearance of Irene Dos Santos’, Mascarenhas uses a 15-year-old girl's disappearance to spin a multilayered history of a Venezuelan family, incorporating folklore, political intrigue and magical realism...This family epic is immersive; no character or event is left unexplored from multiple perspectives. Indeed, the conclusion is like the final piece of an intricate puzzle - Publishers Weekly Margaret Mascarenhas is a consulting editor, columnist and novelist, the author of the Diasporic novel, Skin, published by Penguin India (2001); in French translation by Mercure de France (2002); in Portuguese translation by Editora Replicacao (2006). An American citizen of Goan origin who grew up in Venezuela, she currently lives in Goa and is the Director of Sunaparanta - Goa Centre for the Arts. Her new novel, The Disappearance of Irene Dos Santos, has been published by Grand Central (Hachette USA). She is working on her third novel, Just Another Car Bomb (working title) as well as on collections of her columns, short stories and poems.

In Studio - Box of Thoughts workshop with Patricia Geraldes - 26th to 30th July '10
Interactive sessions with artists and scholars in residence. Tell a story through boxes. The inspiration could be a poem, a film, an artist or a day in your life. The idea is to explore the relationship between painting and sculpture through construction and deconstruction of composition with boxes. Patricia Gernaldes is an Inov-arts grant recipient conducting her residency at Sunaparanta.  Born in Portugal in 1980, she began studying visual arts and theater at an early age.  In 2005 she finished her degree from the Faculty of Fine Arts of Oporto.  Since then she has participated in exhibitions in Portugal, Tunisia, Spain, France and India.  She has been developing an educational service since 2006, which involves people of all ages in artistic and cultural research.  You can see her work in www.patricia-geraldes.blogspot.com and www.patriciageraldes.com
