About the film

What if you were the unwitting star of your own TV show? What if you became a prisoner and were not allowed to leave? In a world where everyone wants to be watched, what if there exists someone who doesn’t want to be watched?

These are the ideas explored in Peter Weir’s Orwellian and prophetic dark comedy-drama about the modern world with its 24/7 surveillance culture; a reality TV world where a star’s every moment is studied, analyzed and commented on.

Inspired by the paintings and postcards of Norman Rockwell with an outstanding musical score by Burkhard Dallwitz, `The Truman Show’ is a frightening and satirical look at our future where “larger forces” deny our basic freedoms of choice and exert total control over us for “our own good”.

This film was nominated for 3 Oscars including Best Director, Best Screenplay and Best Supporting Actor.
