This Wednesday, 11th July 2018 at 6.15 pm, Sunaparanta will host Doppelganger Double – Two Thrillers with Twins and Doubles ‘The Dark Mirror’ and `Enemy’ at Sunaparanta indoor gallery, presented by Arvind Sivakumaran

6.15 pm

Film: The Dark Mirror (1946)

Directed by: Robert Siodmak

Starring: Olivia De Havilland and Olivia De Havilland

Co-Starring: Lew Ayres, Thomas Mitchell

Run-Time: 80 mins

About the Film:  Two sisters – twins…one is a murderess. But which one?

The film was groundbreaking for the way it seamlessly stitched together two Olivia de Havillands in the same frame in several shots, something fairly easy to do today but was very difficult in 1946.

7.45 pm

Film: Enemy (2013)

Directed by: Denis Villeneuve

Starring: Jake Gyllenhaal and Jake Gyllenhaal

Co-Starring: Melanie Laurent, Isabella Rossellini and Sarah Gadon

Run-Time: 88 mins

About the Film: Many consider this film bewildering. Others find it a surreal masterpiece steeped in metaphors. The jury may be out but most agree – it is an utterly compelling watch that leaves you with more questions than answers. The plot centers around history teacher Jake Gyllenhaal as he seeks out his look-alike who he notices in a movie.

There will be a 10-minute break between the films
