• Registrations Open for Pencil to Portfolio programme for Young Adults

    Sunaparanta Goa Centre for the Arts is delighted to open its visual arts programme Pencil to Portfolio for young adults, this June. This programme invites all those interested in pursuing a career in art, design, architecture, fashion, or animation and also those keen on developing creative skills.

     
    The 26-session curriculum developed by senior artist Rajendra Usapkar and supported by a team of dedicated and highly accomplished artists is focused on illustrating individual talent and strengthening the artistic practice of the students.

     
    Lead artist Rajendra Usapkar along with guest artists Swapnesh Vaigankar, Vijay Bhandare, Siddharth Gosavi, and John Menezes will offer personalised training and guidance to students to express their talent, sharpen their observation skills, encourage material exploration, develop critical thinking and build a cohesive portfolio. The hands-on art sessions will explore line, shape, space, form, texture, composition, perspective, point of view as well as various approaches to art-making process.

      
    The programme will culminate in a final showcase, providing students with an understanding of putting together their artwork with their peers and sharing the experiences with their family and friends.

     
    On completion of the programme and in addition, students applying for professional colleges will be assisted in portfolio reviews and guidance from the teaching faculty.


    This programme has been developed as part of Creative Cloud: Connecting Art to Life, an innovation lab designed to activate the unlimited potential & resource of the human imagination through live, interactive and animated sessions.

    Rajendra Usapkar completed his Masters in Fine Arts (Graphics) from M.S. University of Baroda. His practice develops from his own sensitive approach as a figurative artist, his charcoal figures, pen & ink work remain his forté. From the many awards, he has to his credit the Junior and Senior Fellowship from Art and Culture, Govt. of India. Amongst the various shows he participated in, these include - Toyama International Art Camp, Japan (2018); Dorothea Fleiss and East – West Artists World Wide (DFEWA- Residency), Romania (2017); International Artist Painting Camp organised by Art and Culture, Goa and Telllus Art, Sweden in Goa India (2013). His works are in permanent collection of National Gallery of Modern Arts, New Delhi; South Central Zone Cultural Center, Nagpur; Bombay Art Society; Tilak Trust, Pune.

     

    Swapnesh Vaigankar is a visual artist from Goa. He graduated from Goa College of Art and did his Masters in printmaking from M. S. University Baroda. Vaigankar has participated in several printmaking and painting camps in Bhopal, Mumbai, Baroda, Goa, and has exhibited his prints at the International Print Biennale at Bharat Bhavan, Bhopal and China; Lalit Kala Academi’s National ExhibitionPrimeo Academia Mini Print Show, Italy besides other group exhibitions in India. His achievements include the Junior Research Fellowship from the Ministry of Culture, National & State Art AwardsYuva Srujan AwardPrafulla Dahanukar Art Award, amongst others.

     

    Vijay Bhandare is a printmaker, painter and designer. He completed his Bachelor of Fine Arts from Goa College of Art. Bhandare is specialized in portraiture, printmaking and painting and has participated in numerous art exhibitions at various art galleries in India, New Mexico, Sweden, USA, Busan, South Korea. He has received awards and merits for his artworks and his work has been collected in India and abroad.

     

    Goan artist Siddharth Sundar Gosavi completed his Bachelor of Fine Arts from Goa College of Art, Panaji, and Masters in Fine Arts from S.N. School of Fine Art, Hyderabad. He has participated in artist workshops in Goa and Chennai and also group shows in Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad and printmaking camp Look at this Land at Sunaparanta Goa. Gosavi received numerous state and national awards for his works, to name some, State Art Award, Goa and Lalit Kala Academy Award, New Delhi. He is the recipient of Scholarship for Master Studies from Kala Academy, Goa and Grant Scholarship from Lalit Kala Academy, New Delhi.

     

    John Menezes is an experienced self-taught documentary and contemporary art photographer from Goa. He is active in the field of studio photography, product, portraiture and works as a consultant, picture editor, and image researcher. He was visiting lecturer and trainer at various Goa-based educational/cultural institutions and photography-related companies. His work has been exhibited at group shows and is in private collections.
