Sunaparanta – Goa Centre for the Arts has completed 5 glorious years of providing innovative visual arts platform to artists from different communities, and through the years we have grown from strength to strength.
14th December 2013 - a great day of celebration for the Sunaparanta hosts, Dattaraj & Dipti Salgaocar, curator Kanchi Mehta and the team, as we gathered some of the finest Indian artists representing a diversity of art forms – performance, photography, installation, sound art as well as new media in a show titled ‘Rebirth of Detail’. Artists included Bharat Sikka, Nikhil Chopra, Ranbir Kaleka, Sheba Chhachhi, Shilpa Gupta, Sudarshan Shetty, Tejal Shah, Valsan Koorma Kolleri & Viraj Naik, each artist experimenting on various materials to produce an enormous wonder in every space of the Centre, in and around. Works of 2 of our Goan artists mentored by Kanchi Mehta, Ramdas Gadekar & Kedar Dhondu, are on display too in the courtyard.
The show opened at 12 noon with an exercise in transformation ‘Rouge’ performed by Nikhil Chopra, thereafter in an informal opening, had guests Hugo Weihe & Amin Jaffer lighting the lamp along with the curator and the hosts.
The exhibition will be on display until 14th of February 2014 and will be coupled with artist talks, curated walk-throughs, and a video art festival. Detailed programme will be up on our site soon. So do drop by our Centre on all days, except 25th December ’13 and 1st January ‘14, between 10 am to 7 pm and experience ‘Rebirth of Detail’ – at Sunaparanta!
