Sunaparanta – Goa Centre for the Arts in collaboration with Jhaveri Contemporary, Mumbai opened ‘Fallen Objects’, an exhibition of photographs and paper works by artist Simryn Gill and video installation by experimental film maker Shambhavi Kaul on 4th October 2016. Curated by bestselling writer and Sensorium Festival co-founder, Siddharth Dhanvant Shanghvi, the opening was well attended and received by guests.
Born in Singapore, Simryn Gill uses objects, language and photographs to convey a deep interest in material culture. Through the reinterpretation or alteration of existing objects, the photographing of specific locations and the forming of collections, Simryn contemplates how ideas and meanings are communicated between people, objects and sites.
India-born, Shambhavi Kaul, an experimental filmmaker whose films, intentionally, resist easy description, has a unique relationship with not only the world of contemporary experimental cinema, but also the lineage from which it draws both its inspiration and, quite often, its materials.
The exhibition remained open till 22nd October 2016 for public viewing
