Sunaparanta recently hosted the vernissage for Sooni Taraporevala’s photography exhibition ‘Home in the City’. Curated by Hon. Director Siddharth Dhanvant Shanghvi under the patronage of Dipti and Dattaraj Salgaocar, ‘Home in the City’ explores Mumbai – a metropolis that has shifted over four decades to become one of the most populous cities in the world.
Sooni Taraporevala, photographer, screenwriter, film-maker, is best known for writing the films Mississippi Masala, The Namesake, the Oscar-nominated Sallam Bombay!, and directing the National Award-winning Little Zizou as well as for her book, PARSIS: A Photographic Journey. Her photographs have been exhibited around the world and are in the permanent collections of the National Gallery of Modern Art, Delhi, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. The recipient of numberous national and international awards, she was awarded a Padma Shri by the Government of India and is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. She lives in Mumbai with her husband Dr. Firdaus Bativala.
The exhibition will be on view at Sunaparanta, Goa till 2nd January 2018.
