Sunaparanta Goa Centre for the Arts announces the opening of a new exhibition titled Box Politics & its Poetry featuring works from contemporary artists Prabhakar Barwe, George Byrne, Kedar Dhondu, Yamini Nayar, Jagannath Panda, Earl Park, Sudhir Patwardhan, Shrimanti Saha, Vasantha Yogananthan and Jiyoung Yoon.
In this exhibition, the box turns into our main site of inquiry. Over the past year, this architectural unit became central to our lives. It was a source of protection and solitude but also of fear and loneliness.
The artists in this show position themselves at this threshold and invite a reconsideration of how we perceive and think in space.
Their works function as a blueprint, a sort of imagined geography. Space is repurposed and we daydream about new forms of human and non-human coexistence. From this perspective, the box was always a circle.
Box Politics & its Poetry opens on Wednesday, 7th April 2021 from 10.00 am to 6.30 pm.
