Growing the Tree of Life – Artists presentation by the Aldona Community Collaborative
30 April 2022, 6.30 pm
Meet the creators of the Aldona Community Mural and discover the process that unfolded with the children of the community and Book Worm Library over the past 6 months to create the Tree of Life mural in Aldona Park.
The Aldona Community Collaborative was conceived by Conrad Pinto, Eveny Luis, Isa Hinojosa, Blaise D’Sa, Flavia Lobo and the children and community members of Aldona in creating the mural, which was a result of serious reflection and thinking done during a series of workshops with the children and students from the surrounding community. This project is supported by the inaugural Goa Open Arts ENGAGE Grant for community art practices.
‘Superman ka Best Friend’ – Hindi play
30 April 2022, 7.30 pm
Directed and performed by the theatre group Vikalp Kriya, this 45-min play is a conversation between two in/visible friends (enacted by Prabir Bose and Anju Uppal). It tells the story about children not being mute witnesses to the outside world even if they remain unheard. The performance creates a space for both children and adults to deepen a conversation around "development" and to reimagine a better world.
Vikalp Kriya facilitates processes enabling groups & communities to come together, tell their stories, sing their songs, think critically and dare to dream. This group is co-founded and partnered by Anju Uppal (undergraduate in English Literature and an MA in Social Work from Mumbai University) and Prabir Bose (founder and managing trustee of Media Matters, a non-profit trust).
Limited Seats. Prior registration is required for both the programmes.
