Sunaparanta Goa Centre for the Arts presents Papiér-Mâche Workshop: Origins with interdisciplinary artist Sanayvi Naik on Saturday, 23 April 2022 at 10.30 am.
This interactive workshop will explore the origins of papiér-mâche which dates back to the Han Dynasty (BC 202 – AD 220).
The session begins with a live demonstration of modelling & casting where participants will have the opportunity to create their own sculptures that can be taken home at the end of the workshop.
As part of our ongoing exhibition BOUNDARiES, Sanayvi Naik presents an interactive sculpture incorporating the technique of papier-mâché. His practice is concerned with issues of land, ownership and symbols of control & authority.
BOUNDARiES is in collaboration with Goa Open Arts.

Born in Ponda a small village in Goa, Sanayvi Naik’s works are a satirical commentary on the socio, political day–to–day events in his immediate environment. His works display human tendencies like greed, ignorance, treachery, and search for one’s own identity within. Naik’s sculptures are in mediums like fiberglass, metal, rubber and wood. He received his BA from Goa College of Art (2018), and MA in Sculpture from MSU Baroda (2020).
