This Wednesday, 4th June 2014 at 6.30 pm, Sachin Chatte will host the screening of the film `The Train’ at the Sunaparanta Gallery - Indoor.

    Film: The Train (1964, English)

    Cast: Burt Lancaster, Paul Scofield

    Directed by: John Frankenheimer

    Duration: 2 hrs 5 mins

    About the Film:

Based on the book by art historian Rose Valland, which in turn was inspired by true events, `The Train’ is about the works of art looted during Nazi Germany. Thousands of art pieces are sent in a train by a German colonel (Scofield) and the French Resistance members led by Labiche (Lancaster). This taut thriller that also documents history was nominated for an Oscar for the Best Screenplay. The recent George Clooney's `The Monuments Men’ was also based on the same subject but didn't do too well.  `The Train’ meanwhile is considered a classic now.
