    Sunaparanta concludes the Women’s Film Festival this evening with the screening of Hindi film ‘Mirch Masala’ at 6.45 pm.  The screening will be presented by writer, Jugneeta Sudan at Sunaparanta amphi theatre

    About the Film: A gem of the eighties cinema, Mirch Masala is  set in colonial India and highlights the cruelty and tyranny of the subedars (tax collectors) and also the sexism of the  villagers in the face of oppression. This leads to the memorable climactic act of female defiance which has lost none of its power to this day.
