An ode to one of the most thankless and selfless jobs in the world, the film brutally captures the difficulties in educating young and distracted minds.
Released in the same year as 'To Sir With Love' a far more celebrated (though slightly dated) film, UP THE DOWN STAIRCASE has aged better and still feels relevant.
