William Wyler was one of the Hollywood greats – prolific, consistent, exacting and versatile. He was nominated for 12 Oscars for directing and won thrice. His most celebrated classics are Ben Hur, Roman Holiday and The Heiress. He completely devoted his craft to the storytelling and never let his “style” overcome the story or the characters. Perhaps that’s why he’s not as revered or studied as his peers today.
Over two weeks Sunaparanta will re-visit 7 of his “lesser greats”, the films that are as good if not better than his best films but less fortunate in that they are less remembered. Join us for two weeks of the 'great and under-rated' Wyler this September at Sunaparanta.
