Sunaparanta Goa Centre for the Arts invites you to celebrate International Tiger Day with a conversation between leading conservationists Belinda Wright (Founder and Executive Director, Wildlife Protection Society of India), Dr. Anish Andheria (CEO, Wildlife Conservation Trust) and Isheta Salgaocar, Patron, Sunaparanta. This will be Episode X of ListenIN series.
On this occasion, we bring our audiences a special webinar dedicated to India’s iconic cat and national animal. India is home to approximately 70% of the world's wild tiger population, with approximately 3000 tigers as per the Indian Government's 2018 tiger census. Although this number has increased as per the last census, according to estimates, 95% of the world’s tiger population has been lost due to diminishing habitats, hunting and poaching, man-animal conflicts and climate change among other challenges which continue to threaten these cats.
The conversation will highlight conservation efforts with stories and experiences from the ground, raise awareness on the need to protect natural habitats and address the challenges that continue to face India’s tiger population today.
