Sunaparanta Goa Centre for the Arts is pleased to present Reimagining Design, a conversation with Paola Antonelli (Senior Curator, Department of Architecture & Design and Founding Director of Research & Development, MoMA New York), and Gunjan Gupta (Industrial & Furniture Designer, Founder of Wrap Studio), moderated by Bandana Tewari (Lifestyle Journalist & Sustainability Activist). This is Episode XXVI of ListenIN.
The present global situation has seen the design community respond with various solutions to protect the public from the pandemic, improve treatment and prepare for changes in our lives and societies. We have witnessed a spate of proposals to redefine public facilities: redesigning public parks that allow distances to be maintained, public benches with plexiglass dividers.
This pandemic also brought attention to everyday objects that we once overlooked: soap, doorknobs, gloves, masks, baking flour and even toilet paper took on new meaning and purpose. How have these objects determined our everyday? What role does design play in our lives, as we move toward efficiency, safety and functionality taking a forefront?
With Paola Antonelli, Gunjan Gupta and Bandana Tewari we will delve into the world of design and what makes design objects become part of society's tapestry, how geography can shape design approach and where we are headed as a creative community.
