Debuting this December at Sunaparanta, Goa Centre for the Arts, Sensorium gathers a constellation of international stars from the world of arts and literature to present fine work and original thought. In its inaugural edition Sensorium reflects on photography at its intersection with literature, cinema and music.

All Sensorium’s events are FREE and OPEN to all.
Sat December 6: Artist interaction and gallery walks from 4pm-6pm. All are welcome.

Fri December 19: Writer William Dalrymple will give a lecture on the Ajanta cave murals.

*Sat January 11: Artist Jitish Kallat will give a talk about curating the Kochi Biennale and how photography allowed him to plan out the same.

*Fri January 17: Ritesh Batra, director of The Lunchbox, will do a digital show of dabbawallah images from his film.

February 2015: Book launch, Life is Elsewhere by Sohrab Hura followed by a workshop by the Magnum nominee. Contact office for registration details.

Photo-interaction with Sohrab Hura on Feb 4 and 5, 2015

Sunaparanta, Goa Centre for the Arts is delighted to announce a two-day immersive interaction with photographer Sohrab Hura as he discusses your individual work in open sessions with other chosen participants.

Dates & Time: 4 & 5 Feb, 2015 / 10 am to 5 pm, both days
Number of seats: 15
Fees: None (travel and accommodation expenses are to be borne by the participants).
Selection Process: Please send your application via email as per the form below latest by 20 Jan, 2015. Final participants will be chosen by Sohrab Hura based on your submission.
Who Should Apply: Photo-practitioners who are either already working on their own photo projects or are intending to do so. Working professionals as well as photography students are welcome.
What you need to bring: Your work and an open mind.
What kind of work do you need to submit: all kinds of photography work is welcome.

About Sensorium
Sensorium, an arts festival launched in December, 2014 and will continue to be exhibited until February 2015 at Sunaparanta Goa Centre for the Arts in Altinho, Panjim.
Sensorium, is a festival that in its inaugural year traces the intersection between photography and the other mediums – literature, cinema and installation art.

About Sohrab Hura
Sohrab Hura was born on 17 October, 1981 in a small town called Chinsurah in West Bengal, India and he grew up changing his ambitions from one exciting thing to another. He started with dreams of growing up and becoming a dog, which later turned to becoming a superhero and then to a veterinarian to a herpetologist to becoming a wild life film-maker. Today he is a photographer, after having completed his Masters in Economics. He is currently the coordinator of the Anjali House children’s photography workshop that takes place during the Angkor Photo Festival, Cambodia every year and his home base is New Delhi, India.

Life is Elsewhere is the first of the two books from the work Sweet Life by Sohrab Hura and is being exhibited at Sensorium.
Sohrab began making the photographs in the book, from 2006-2012 while he was in his mid to late twenties. The photographs, were a response to his coming to terms with his mother’s prolonged illness. She had been diagnosed with schizophrenia when he was nineteen. While in the initial years Sohrab focused on just the photographs, over time the work shifted shape to one of a journal which include letters and notes written over the years along with the photographs to create a completely new narrative leading up to the second and final part of Sweet Life.

Life is Elsewhere is the first book by Sohrab Hura.
