19 Dec 2025 to 19 Dec 2025Sunaparanta Goa Centre for the Arts, in collaboration with the Laxmidas Borkar Janmashatabdi Samaroh Samiti, is proud to mark the 64th anniversary of Goa Liberation Day and honour the centenary year of Shri Laxmidas Krishna Borkar with a special screening of Das-Parv, a documentary on his life and work.
Directed by Dnyanesh Moghe, Das-Parv chronicles the extraordinary journey of Shri Borkar, whose life embodied courage, conviction, and an unwavering commitment to Goa and the nation. The film traces his pivotal role in the Goa Liberation Movement, his close association with Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia, and his decades-long dedication to public life. It offers a powerful narrative of a man who represented Goa before the International Court of Justice at The Hague and shaped public discourse through more than fifty years of writing and activism.
Alongside his political work, he made a profound mark in journalism, contributing to publications such as Loksatta and Navprabha, and authoring 18 books across genres. His role in founding and nurturing numerous cultural and social organisations further highlights his lifelong service to society.
The screening of Das-Parv at Sunaparanta is both a tribute to his legacy and an opportunity for audiences to revisit Goa’s freedom struggle through the lens of one of its most
dedicated sons.

This documentary celebrates the centenary of Laxmidas Borkar, a Goan Freedom Fighter, Journalist, Writer, and Social Reformer whose legacy continues to inspire. It explores his crucial role in Goa’s liberation movement and commemorates the historic spirit of 18 June 1946, when Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia sparked a people’s revolution.
Featuring rare insights, the film highlights Borkar’s significant contributions to journalism and literature in Mumbai and Goa over five decades, with reflections from literary and journalist peers on his influence and convictions.
