Conversation: From Idea to Ecosystem, Growing Films Through Community with Ipshita Bhattacharyya and Doel Trivedy
08 Apr 2026 to 08 Apr 2026Sunaparanta Goa Centre for the Arts invites you to From Idea to Ecosystem: Growing Films Through Community, a conversation between filmmakers Ipshita Bhattacharyya and Doel Trivedy on Wednesday, 08 April 2026, at 6.45 pm.
This conversation emerges from the evolving journey of My Mangrove Mother, Ipshita’s feature-length documentary, and reflects on how independent filmmaking is shaped not only by a singular vision, but by the communities, collaborations, and exchanges that support, challenge, and help a film grow over time.
Together, Ipshita and Doel will reflect on what it means to find and build community within independent filmmaking, and on how films are shaped through dialogue, care, critique, and collective engagement.
Ipshita Bhattacharyya is the inaugural recipient of the greenstories–Sunaparanta Artist-in-Residence Award, presented at greenstories 2025, a mentoring and pitching forum dedicated to wildlife and environmental documentaries from Asia.
Now in their second year of collaboration, Sunaparanta and greenstories continue to support documentary filmmaking as a vital artistic and cultural practice — one that creates space for reflection, dialogue, and engagement with the world around us.
Join us on Wednesday, 08 April 2026, from 6.45 pm
onwards.
This event is presented in partnership with greenstories.

Ipshita Bhattacharyya is an independent filmmaker with a nature-inspired, intuitive cinematic voice rooted in lived experiences. In 2017, she founded Reel Nomads, a filmmaking collective telling compassionate, purpose-driven stories. Her work explores climate change, culture and conservation, often in grassroot India. Collaborating with global broadcasters and social organisations, she creates films that capture deep community bonds and inspire change, one powerful story at a time. In the recent past, her short docs have found a global audience, premiering in world conferences and film festivals both internationally and within the country. She is currently working on her first independent feature doc, My Mangrove Mother from the Sundarbans in West Bengal, India.
Doel Trivedy is a filmmaker and National Geographic Explorer with over two decades in documentary filmmaking. She is Director and Producer at Riverbank Studios, a pioneering Indian production house with more than 50 years of conservation storytelling, and serves as VP Documentaries at the International Quorum of Motion Picture Producers. She is also the Director of greenstories, Asia’s first incubation and pitch forum dedicated to wildlife and environmental films.
